DRC approves revised final plan for Muneoka Park improvements

The Alachua County Development Review Committee on Dec. 18 approved a revised final development plan for Muneoka Park, clearing the way for a multi-use perimeter path, a renovated playground, court resurfacing and structured ADA parking on the roughly 5-acre site at 803 Northwest 192nd Avenue.

Leslie McClendon, a senior planner with Alachua County Growth Management, told the committee staff ‘‘finds [the] proposed revised final development plan to be consistent with the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan and the Unified Land Development Code, and staff recommends approval’’ of the Muneoka Park improvements. McClendon described removal of an existing baseball field, resurfacing of an existing court, a new playground area and a perimeter multi-use path with tree retention measures.

Tim Bayline, a professional engineer with JB Pro and the engineer on the project, said he did not have a formal presentation but was present to answer questions and ‘‘looks forward to doing this park project and bringing this one to life.’’ The committee heard no public comment on the item.

A committee member moved to approve the revised final development plan; a second was made and, after members indicated their assent, the chair announced the motion passed. The DRC record shows staff found the plan consistent with applicable county policies and development code requirements. Appeals of final development orders are by petition for writ of certiorari filed in the circuit court for Alachua County within 30 days, except as otherwise provided in Florida statute, as explained at the start of the meeting.

The committee moved on to subsequent agenda items after taking final action on the plan.
