Summary
The council passed council bill 1211188 to adjust pay zones for Information Technology Professional positions to match represented IBEW increases, and unanimously confirmed Amy Nguyen as director of the Office of Arts & Culture.
The Seattle City Council voted April 28 to pass council bill 1211188, which adjusts pay zones (salary ranges) for nonrepresented employees in the Information Technology Professional (ITP) compensation program to align with percentage increases negotiated for represented IBEW Local 77 members.
Councilmember Alexis Rink explained that the adjustment provides parity with increases negotiated in the IBEW Local 77 memorandum of understanding and follows the city’s historical practice of providing comparable benefits and conditions for employees with similar titles. The legislation affects the city’s discretionary ITP pay program, which covers nearly 600 employees across eight departments. The council recorded a roll-call vote of six in favor, none opposed; the chair signed the bill.
The council also confirmed appointment 3471, selecting Amy Nguyen as director of the Office of Arts & Culture. Members praised Nguyen’s experience in arts, planning and community development during the confirmation discussion; the appointment carried 6-0. Nguyen said she is honored to serve and emphasized access, equity and stewardship of public resources.
Earlier in the meeting the council adopted the introduction and referral calendar and the consent calendar without objection, and excused Councilmember Rivera from the remainder of the session.
