County approves transit student-pass program and IT billing; several routine items cleared 3–0

At its April 28 administrative workshop the Josephine County Board of Commissioners approved several routine operations items by unanimous vote.

Transit Supervisor Scott Chancy presented an agreement with Rogue Community College to allow students and staff to board Josephine County transit buses under a prepaid contract valued at $14,400. "It's in lieu of fare... there is no cost to the county," Chancy said. Commissioner Martin moved to approve the community college student and staff pass program; the motion was seconded and approved 3–0.

Chancy also outlined the annual handheld radio service for the transit fleet and said the expense is covered by federal and state transit funds and local match; no general fund dollars were required.

On IT and operations, county IT director Ken said the annual Microsoft-suite licensing and associated vendor billing are the county’s largest annual software expense. The county approved Dell Technologies' annual billing in the amount of $214,921.17 by motion; the motion passed 3–0.

Other routine staffing and operational updates were announced, including a public information hire who is set to start May 4.
