The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation on April 28 honoring Carol Cuadrado for nearly 28 years of service to the residents of Passaic County and her work on the Board of Social Services.
A board member read the proclamation, which recounted Cuadrado’s long tenure, leadership roles on the Board of Social Services, public-service work at state and federal levels, and her recent appointment as associate vice president for government and university relations at William Paterson University. A representative delivered a congressional record on behalf of Congresswoman Nellie Poe.
Cuadrado accepted the recognition and delivered an emotional speech thanking commissioners, staff, family and mentors. She described her start in public service, recalled work during the pandemic on the county census commission, and praised collaborations with local and state officials. "This has been my greatest honor to serve the people of Passaic County and the state of New Jersey for the past nearly 3 decades," Cuadrado said.
The board organized a receiving line for attendees after the proclamation and flagged additional recognitions presented by regional officials and members of the county delegation. The event was described as a surprise celebration and included remarks from colleagues who praised Cuadrado’s mentorship of other women and Latinas in politics.
