Lubbock County’s human-resources director told commissioners Feb. 9 the county will terminate its employee-assistance program contract with Interface Behavioral Health effective March 11, 2026, citing "lack of communication and lack of access" for employees.
Andrea Villalobos said HR is working with the county’s insurance consultants (McGriff) to identify an alternative vendor and that Mutual of Omaha will provide a limited interim option for employees to call, be assessed and be referred to local providers.
Commissioners asked whether the county had provided employees with an alternative during the transition; Villalobos described the Mutual of Omaha interim arrangement and said HR is seeking a longer-term vendor solution.
The court voted to authorize the county judge to sign the termination letter. Villalobos said the county will continue to work with consultants to secure a fully functioning EAP vendor.
