MTPO staff presented FDOT’s request to add an intersection modification at Northwest 39th Avenue (13th Street/US‑441) — a $547,000 project — and an intelligent transportation system (ITS) camera project on Interstate 75 estimated at $920,000. Staff said the 39th/US‑441 work would install a permanent raised median to prevent left turns near the intersection, replacing recently placed temporary flexible posts.
A committee member moved to amend the TIP to include the two projects across the FY 24‑25 to 28‑29 program; the motion was seconded. After brief questions from commissioners about the intersection modifications, the board conducted a required roll‑call vote and approved the amendment unanimously.
MTPO staff said the projects will be added to the tentative program and that funding was within FDOT’s FY 24‑25 allocation. The amendment will be reflected in the MTPO’s list of priority projects (LOPP) and the TIP; staff said the board will adopt a prioritized LOPP in February.
Next steps: FDOT will proceed with project scoping and design; local staff will coordinate to ensure the MTPO’s LOPP and the tentative work program reflect the newly added projects.
