The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt an updated Local Emergency Operations Plan and a resolution reaffirming the county's emergency-management framework.
County staff presented the revised plan, which staff said "more accurately reflects how we currently operate, how we're organized and how we function during emergencies," according to Mister Tai, who led the update. Commissioners were asked to adopt an updated resolution that reaffirms the original 2004 resolution and outlines roles and responsibilities for local emergency management.
The board had discussed the revisions in a work session the previous day; Mister Tai told commissioners the update incorporated organizational and operational changes identified during that review. After a motion, second and no further discussion, the chair called the vote and the resolution was approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
County officials said the updated plan will guide coordination with state and federal partners during disasters and ensure the county's operating structure matches current practice. Staff offered to answer follow-up questions and to provide copies of the plan to commissioners on request.
