The General Government Committee voted Oct. 1 to draft a resolution establishing compensation for the County Board members for the next four-year term. The proposed rates are $80 for each County Board meeting attended, $50 for each committee meeting, and an annual chair stipend of $8,580, with an effective date of April 21, 2026.
Supervisor Lawler moved the motion and Supervisor Goede seconded; Vice Chair David Eggen presided. Committee minutes record that comparable pay data from neighboring counties were presented during discussion. The motion passed on a voice vote with all members recorded as voting in favor. The committee directed the draft resolution to be forwarded to the full Vernon County Board for consideration with a recommendation for approval.
The action is procedural: the committee will deliver the draft to the full board, which must vote to adopt any change in compensation. No dissent or alternative pay scales were recorded in the committee discussion.
Next steps: the County Board will consider the drafted resolution at a future meeting; the committee did not set a final adoption date.
