Committee reports bill to equalize CRNA reimbursement and network access

SB275 would require insurers to reimburse certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) at rates no less than physicians when services are within CRNAs' lawful scope and bar network exclusion on the sole basis of CRNA status; the committee reported the bill favorably after supporters from health systems and the Louisiana Association of Nurse Anesthetists registered support.

Senate Bill 275 was presented to the House Insurance Committee to require insurers to reimburse certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) at parity with physician reimbursement when CRNAs personally perform services within their lawful scope of practice, and to prohibit network exclusion on the basis of being a CRNA.
