Auglaize County commissioners approve routine resolutions, hold two executive sessions with no action

The Auglaize County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Feb. 17, 2026, and approved the day’s resolutions for distribution and execution after a motion by Commissioner David Bambauer and a second by Commissioner Douglas A. Clerk Bobbi Donovan read the minutes of the Feb. 12, 2026 meeting, which the board approved. County Administrator Erica L. Preston reviewed the board calendar and reported several operational items: the U.S. Postal Service now applies postmarks at initial processing rather than at drop-off, and Preston said the county’s on-site postage processing means routine mailings should not be affected; the Maintenance Supervisor reported that Russ Bailey needs a new flagpole base and a sidewalk at the Dog Warden office; Preston presented an extension request for the airport master plan update for signature by the BOCC president; and she said land near the Auglaize County Recycle Center may be available for purchase.
At 9:00 a.m. the board entered executive session to discuss security measures after Bambauer moved and Spencer seconded; Administrator Preston was invited to attend. Chairman John Bergman called the roll, and Commissioners Spencer, Bambauer and Bergman voted yes. The board returned to open session at 9:10 a.m. with no action taken. At 9:11 a.m. the board entered a second executive session to discuss a complaint against an elected official; the same motion pattern and roll-call votes were recorded, and the board returned at 9:16 a.m. with no action taken. The minutes do not provide details of either executive session.
The minutes note the board and Administrator Preston attended the quarterly MEBC meeting at the Mercer County Commissioners’ office at 11:00 a.m. Around noon President Bergman left the office for the day and Vice President Spencer continued business.
The board recorded a set of resolutions in the Board’s Journal; among them Resolution #26-067 authorizes accepting a quote from Wellman Brothers for a new downspout at the Auglaize County Courthouse as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor. With no further business, Vice President Spencer adjourned the meeting at 1:00 p.m.
