Council hears timeline for 2040 comprehensive plan public input and draft hearings

Planning staff provided a verbal update on the 2040 Dripping Springs comprehensive plan and the public-input schedule. Staff said they plan two online components — a survey for the plan document and an interactive future land-use map — and aim to launch the survey within about a week after final tweaks. The report to the Planning & Zoning Commission will be in July, with city council hearings likely in July or August 2026 depending on public feedback and schedule.
Council members emphasized the importance of in-person options; staff said they expect to offer designated office hours or one or two evening open-house sessions so residents can view paper materials and speak with staff. "This was supposed to be driven by the community and the people, and I want to keep it that way," the mayor said. Staff committed to regular updates to council and to returning with public-input summaries as the process proceeds.
No formal action was taken; staff will return with the public-input results and any recommended schedule for formal hearings.
