Huron County commissioners approve several contracts, equipment trades and a labor pact

The Huron County Board of Commissioners on July 1 approved a series of contracts, a firearms trade to offset equipment purchases and a collective bargaining agreement affecting county engineering employees.
The board approved a five-year Dedicated Internet Access agreement with Frontier Communications of America, Inc. for Huron County Emergency Management Agency at 255 Shady Lane Drive in Norwalk for $440 per month. It also approved a GIS consulting contract with Bruce Harris & Associates, Inc. not to exceed $5,000 to create Emergency Service Number (ESN) layers for 9-1-1 dispatch.
Separately, the board authorized the sheriff to trade current patrol rifles and forfeited firearms to Vance’s Law Enforcement, Columbus, Ohio, with a quoted trade-in value of $16,310 to offset the purchase price of new departmental rifles.
The commissioners also approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement between the Huron County Engineer and AFSCME Ohio Council 8, Local 3764, AFL-CIO; the signed contract is on file with the county.
All measures passed by unanimous roll-call votes. Administrator Vickie Ziemba noted the GIS work will help 9-1-1 determine which fire, EMS and law-enforcement responders should be dispatched to particular locations.
These were routine procurement and labor actions required for county operations; contract documents are on file with the commissioners' office.
