Huron County seeks proposals to replace county phone system for multiple buildings

Huron County on Sept. 16 authorized a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a county IP telephony solution to replace the telecommunications system in Norwalk-area county offices. The legal notice published instructions that specifications will be available beginning Sept. 18, a pre-proposal conference will be held Sept. 29 at 10:00 a.m., and sealed proposals will be opened Oct. 17 at 10:00 a.m.
The RFP describes a primarily VOIP system to be designed and implemented by a single prime contractor and lists building locations in Norwalk and an estimated 267 phones to be included in the system. Administrator/Clerk Vickie Ziemba was listed in the notice as the contact and signed the order to publish the legal notice on Sept. 18, 2025.
The board approved placing the notice in a newspaper of general circulation and on the county website. The meeting record does not include technical specifications beyond the summary in the legal notice; vendors are directed to the county commissioners’ office for full RFP documentation.
