Huron County schedules April 28 public hearing on 2026 CDBG programs

Huron County officials announced on April 16 that the first public hearing on the county’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for Program Year 2026 will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 9:15 a.m. in the Huron County Commissioners Office, 180 Milan Avenue, #7, Norwalk.
The county’s notice to the public lists the program streams for which it may apply through the Ohio Department of Development and provides approximate funding ceilings: the Allocation Program (biennial) at approximately $176,000; Neighborhood Revitalization (biennial) up to $750,000; Residential Public Infrastructure (open cycle) up to $750,000; Critical Infrastructure (open cycle) up to $500,000; Economic Development and Public Infrastructure (open cycle) up to $500,000; and Flexible Grant options including Downtown Buildings (up to $250,000) and New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance (up to $50,000). The notice says eligible activities include public facilities, housing, economic development, and fair housing efforts that primarily benefit low-to-moderate income persons, eliminate slum and blight or address urgent community needs.
Citizens were invited to attend to provide input on the county’s proposed programs. The county said accommodations for disabled or non-English speaking residents will be made upon advance request by calling 419-668-3092.
The hearing is the first of two scheduled opportunities for public input; the notice includes program descriptions and application due dates. More information or special accommodation requests can be obtained from the Huron County Commissioners Office.
