Huron County commissioners approve five vendors for online payment processing

Huron County commissioners on July 22 unanimously accepted a list of vendors county officials may use to accept electronic payments, approving proposals from LexisNexis, AutoAgent, PayIt, Paymentus and Point & Pay.

The resolution implements the county's financial transaction devices program under Ohio Revised Code §301.28. Treasurer Megan Bursley recommended the five vendors after soliciting proposals; two proposals were judged insufficient and the board did not accept them. Assistant Prosecutor Jacob Stephens told the board that LexisNexis did not submit an updated proposal but the treasurer recommended it remain on the list under its existing proposal so agencies that already use that service would not be forced to change.

The resolution requires the treasurer, as the administrative agent, to notify any vendor whose proposal was rejected and to provide copies of accepted proposals and the reasons for rejection upon request. The resolution also directs county officials authorized to accept payments to provide written notice to the board before activating a selected vendor in their office.

The motion was made by Commissioner Tom Dunlap and seconded by Commissioner Bradley R. Mesenburg; the roll-call vote was Aye from Harry Brady, Tom Dunlap and Bradley R. Mesenburg.

Next steps include sending certified copies of the executed resolution and digital copies of accepted proposals to county agencies and providing required notices to unsuccessful vendors. No contract awards were recorded on the record at the meeting; individual county officials remain authorized to enter into contracts with the accepted vendors.
