Jackson County commissioners met March 25 and approved a series of routine financial and contractual items, including the hiring of a full-time courthouse security guard.
The board began with a roll call confirming Commissioners Paul Haller, Jon Hensler and Donnie Willis were present and unanimously approved the March 18 minutes. On financial business, commissioners authorized a reimbursement transfer of $1,852.80 from account 710-2100-5946.00 (Reimb. Indigent App.) to 101-0007-4959.00 (Indigent App. Reimb.), and approved two additional appropriations: $10,800 to account 903-0100-5305.00 (Other Expense) and $300 to 101-1800-5302.00 (Travel). The board then voted to pay county vouchers.
Auditor Ridgeway submitted the county's sales tax receipts for 2026 and 2025 and noted the year-to-year increase/decrease for the commissioners' review. The Dog Warden presented the weekly report covering March 14–20, 2026; no action was recorded on that item.
By unanimous roll call, the board approved three separate resolutions (53-26, 54-26 and 55-26) authorizing IV-D contracts between the Jackson County Child Support Enforcement Agency and, respectively, the Jackson County Clerk of Courts, the Juvenile Court and the Jackson County Common Pleas Court for calendar year 2026.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 56-26, authorizing the Engineer's Temporary Work Agreement related to a bridge replacement on Springer Road.
After an executive session at 8:38 a.m. to discuss personnel matters concerning courthouse security, the board returned to open session at 8:47 a.m. and approved Resolution 57-26 to hire Mr. Charles Greer as a full-time, non-union courthouse security guard. The resolution sets Mr. Greer’s first day of employment as March 30, 2026, at an hourly rate of $14.27.
Later the board recessed briefly and, at the request of Veteran Service Commissioners Anthony Brenner and Sunset Caldwell, held a second executive session beginning at 9:00 a.m. to discuss contractual matters related to a property purchase; the board returned at 9:22 a.m. The meeting was adjourned by President Donnie Willis.
Votes and formal motions recorded in the public record show all listed motions passed by unanimous roll call of the three commissioners.
