Clay County jail reports steady population, expands recovery and reentry programs
Sheriff's staff reported the jail was holding 397 inmates (about 81% capacity) and described education, treatment and reentry programs including the Unlock Recovery initiative, plans for a 12-bed transitional house and a planned restart of a batterers-intervention class.

Chief Arnold provided a status update from the Clay County Jail, saying, "Our first quarter average daily population was 406 inmates. We have a total count as of today, 397," and that the facility was at about 81% of its maximum population. He said roughly 82% of inmates were held on felony arrests and 18% on misdemeanor arrests; 29 inmates were described as sentenced to the Department of Corrections and awaiting paperwork and transport.
