GT students showcase projects, including published game 'Battle 101'

He described the elementary GT structure (half-day at Fannin for grades 1'4, on-campus services for grades 5'6, STEM classes for grade 7'8 and added creative-writing offerings) and said the program offers pre-AP, AP and CTE electives in grades 9'12.
During the student showcase, a GT student described a game project: "There's a robot named Mad who tries to take over the kingdom..." The student walked trustees through elements of the game's coding, characters and published status and invited board members to try the game on their phones.
Dr. Carl praised GT teachers and asked for a round of applause for their work; he said the district will continue evaluating rigor and differentiation at the AP and dual-credit levels to ensure GT students are appropriately served.
The presentation was informational and no formal action was recorded on the GT program during the public meeting.
