Dunbar said the district advocated for two items in the legislative session: an adjustment to the reimbursement calculation for the high school roof project to reflect its true age, and an increase in state reimbursement for a potential middle school project. Current reports cited to the Board indicate the reimbursement rate for the middle school project could increase by approximately 10 percent.
Dunbar also summarized potential additional state funding: roughly $700,000 in Education Cost Sharing‑related support plus a one‑time allocation of about $500,000, which he described together as totaling over $1.2 million for the town. He cautioned that the impact on the local budget remains to be determined and that figures are preliminary while legislative activity is finalized.
On capital and procurement matters, Dunbar said the high school roof project remains pending state grant approval before bidding can begin and that the bus contract is under legal review, with plans to bring it forward for board consideration in early June. The Colliers Working Group is scheduled to present additional information to the board on the middle school construction project in the near future.
