At its May meeting the Goldsboro City Council approved several formal actions summarized below.
Annexation (ANX 0226): After a staff presentation that said the 51.42-acre city-owned tract met contiguous-annexation requirements and staff recommended approval, the council adopted the annexation ordinance for Stoney Creek by a recorded unanimous affirmative vote (seven in favor). Planning staff said the property is zoned R-16 and designated for conservation; city services are available near the site.
Pavement preservation contract: Public works staff recommended awarding the pavement preservation contract after receiving six bids (three disqualified for incomplete submittals). Barnhill Contracting submitted the lowest responsive bid for $1,075,461.53; the council adopted the awarding resolution unanimously.
Public safety building contract amendment: Staff presented a contract amendment with Bobbit Construction to make short-term improvements to the public safety building (HVAC, dehumidification, locker-room and bathroom renovations and other repairs) to improve living and working conditions pending a longer-term facility solution. The council approved the contract amendment by unanimous vote.
Consent agenda and routine business: The council adopted the consent agenda items 7.1–7.4 and other routine approvals by unanimous vote; the manager noted portions of the agenda were previously reviewed in meetings and were administrative in nature.
