Presenter showcases Highlight staff-recognition program, reports high participation

Lacy Lettenmaier presented the Highlight staff-recognition program to the Perry Central Com Schools Corp board, saying the platform is designed to focus staff attention on positive actions and to reinforce the district's culture code.
"More often than we recognize, we can make the choice consciously and intentionally to focus on the positive," Lettenmaier said while introducing usage data and examples from elementary schools.
Lettenmaier reported that 2,480 highlights had been sent as of the beginning of March and said the program shows 3,345 total "times staff members were highlighted" in the current school year. She said participation spans a broad cross-section of employees — teachers, social workers, cafeteria staff, bus drivers and custodians — and that 99% of elementary staff had received at least one highlight. Lettenmaier described participation goals and outreach she used to increase sender participation, noting an increase to 64% senders in the most recent quarter compared with earlier quarters.
She demonstrated the Highlight website feed, read sample highlight messages (including a custodian appreciation message and praise for cafeteria and STEM support), and explained an incentive structure in which senders and recipients earn points that can be redeemed for small rewards. Lettenmaier said the district's board members were added to the Highlight account and that she would share slides and instructions for board members to receive notifications and review the school feed.
Board members thanked Lettenmaier for the presentation and the demonstration. No formal action was taken on the program during the meeting.
