Elk Grove — The Elk Grove Unified School District board approved a five-year renewal for SAVA Elk Grove, a direct-funded charter serving roughly 370 students in grades 7–12, after staff presented a performance review and the school described plans for additional metrics.
Staff said SAVA met five of eight DOS indicators and showed improvements on state dashboard measures from 2024 to 2025: ELA improved by 25 points and math improved by 20 points in locally reported measures; English learner progress and college-and-career indicators also rose. Staff highlighted a one-year graduation rate of 93.1% and 100% CTE completion in certain programs, while noting chronic absenteeism grew from 27% to 38%.
Director Hubard told the board the school is identified for technical assistance for pupil achievement but is making progress; staff recommended renewal with oversight and a five-year term (July 1, 2026–June 30, 2031).
SAVA representatives thanked staff for the collaborative review process and said they will work with the district to finalize alternative metrics and an addendum that clarifies data reporting, governance training and material-revision processes. After discussion, the board moved, seconded and unanimously approved renewal of the petition.
