Dr. Brianna Ecklesen, Public Health Division Director, presented the grant and said it will fund outreach staff, advertising and organized parent‑focused training between January and the grant’s September 15 end date. "We will be utilizing these funds for our outreach team… and for advertising for our marijuana safety campaign," Dr. Ecklesen said.
County officials said the outreach will include distribution of edible‑safety materials to dispensaries, parent trainings on family communication about marijuana, and partnerships with maternal-child health programs and driving schools to educate young drivers. The commission moved, seconded and approved the grant acceptance with no recorded objections.
The motion authorizes staff to accept and deploy the grant funds for outreach and education; staff said they will coordinate with existing maternal‑child health and outreach partners to schedule trainings and distribute materials.
