Students recognized for Project Impact service program at board meeting

The board recognized student leaders and teachers from Project Impact, a Wilder Way fifth-grade service initiative that has operated for about 10 years.
Teacher Jeremy Connley and colleagues described the program's four pillars: hands-on service projects, health and wellness initiatives, donation drives and schoolwide service. Students outlined regular activities such as a Veterans Day assembly honoring local veterans, volunteering at EPIC to support people with disabilities, Midwest Food Bank service days, a relay-for-life fundraiser and blanket-making projects for OSF Children's Hospital.
Superintendent Dr. Dearman and board members congratulated students and coaches, noting the program's role in developing citizenship and leadership. The board invited the public to remain for the meeting and said more information will be available on the district website and Facebook page.
