Cornish — Town clerk Madi Smith told the Cornish Town Council on April 15 that a review of utility accounts shows 103 garbage cans in town service, not the 106 the town previously reported to its hauler, Econo Waste. She said she will correct the April billing numbers and update CORE so accounts with two cans are charged two landfill fees.
Smith told the council she will contact affected account holders and work with the hauler to ensure billing matches actual service. Councilmember Christopher Buxton asked staff to follow up with resident Nate Heiner after the council discovered a can at Heiner’s property was not being billed; Councilmember Colton Creech provided a contact for that follow-up.
The council discussed the administrative details needed to reconcile billing. Councilmember Buxton asked that the April 1 minutes reflect the discrepancy and note that, despite underbilling landfill fees, the administration fee produced net revenue. Clerk Madi Smith said she would make the corrections before publishing the final minutes.
The matter will be acted on administratively by staff; no formal ordinance or policy change was proposed at the meeting.
