Tipton arts commission narrows downtown canvas project and advances welcome-sculpture RFQ process

Chad, speaking for the Arts Commission, updated the board on two public-art projects. The downtown canvas program received applications from 28 local artists; the commission plans to license five or six designs initially and produce vinyl prints for downtown display, with installation targeted for late April or soon after.
The commission also said the RFQ for a welcome sculpture closes this Wednesday the 11th; eight submissions had been received so far. The selection process is expected to take until late March or early April to identify design concepts and then proceed to contracting, with installation likely in May or June.
