Page County engineer outlines road work, grader training and bridge surveys

JD King, Page County Engineer, gave the board an operations update describing routine maintenance and upcoming training and planning.
King said crews are blading county roads and hauling rock, including deliveries to township cemeteries; tree shearing and brush mowing are underway on I Avenue and near 202nd Street, and crews are performing cold patching on pavements. He said river access points including Shambaugh and the A Avenue site near Shenandoah are being bladed and rock will be placed as required in coordination with the conservation office.
King reported the county will host a four‑day motor grader training session with three new operators and three operators coming from neighboring Taylor and Fremont counties; the session will focus on a piece of road in Page County. He also said the spray patcher is ready but that the county is delaying filling the oil storage tank until overnight temperatures stop falling below freezing to protect the oil supply. King noted work on a tractor and maintenance to an older excavator undercarriage and said staff are finalizing DOT FY27 right‑of‑way paperwork and topographic surveys for Yorktown bridges in the program.
