Weld County approves juvenile diversion allocation, multiple contracts and procurement requests

The Weld County Board of County Commissioners on April 1, 2026 authorized submission of a $168,300 state allocation for juvenile diversion, approved a series of routine contracts and cooperative purchases, and authorized submittal of a congressionally directed spending request for a roundabout at County Road 59 and State Highway 52.

Christa Britain, speaking on behalf of the 19th Judicial District Attorney's Office, told commissioners the $168,300 allocation supports juvenile diversion and is a statutorily mandated program. "What you have before you... is our plan for the state of Colorado to utilize the $168,300 allocation that supports juvenile diversion," Britain said. The board voted to authorize the district attorney's office to submit the allocation to the state by the stated deadline.

Tammy Grant, deputy director of the Department of Human Services, described amendment number three to the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (Contract ID 10507) as an extension through the 2027 program year with no substantive changes; the board authorized the chair to sign that amendment. Grant also presented a continuation lease for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (Contract ID 10510), noting the DVR will reimburse $5,000 for shared cubicle space at the workforce center; commissioners approved the lease.

Public Works and purchasing staff presented several procurement requests and cooperative purchases. John Graves said Public Works seeks to purchase 10,000 tons of recycled class‑6 crushed concrete for road construction during wet conditions; he said no additional road and bridge funds are required because contracted crushing dollars will offset the change order. Denise Staley, Public Works, asked the board to authorize submittal of a congressionally directed spending request (sponsored by U.S. Senators) seeking $3 million toward a proposed roundabout at County Road 59 and State Highway 52 to close a roughly $3.4 million shortfall; the board approved the request to submit.

Other approvals at the meeting included an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Greeley for a Generation Wild public‑health program (Contract ID 10511) and an IGA for demolition of properties at 912 and 918 10th Street, Greeley (Contract ID 10519).
