Douglas County commissioners voted 5-0 on April 2, 2026 to adopt a 20-year, multi-phase master plan for the Douglas County Fairgrounds and adjacent BLM lands. The plan lays out an expanded footprint (from roughly 36 acres to more than 100 acres in county/BLM-managed areas), proposing a new indoor event center, covered and outdoor arenas, community meeting space, horse barns and expanded parking/RV staging. Consultants emphasized the plan is conceptual and meant to guide phased design and funding.
