Senate adopts consent calendar and multiple bills on second/third reading
Summary
On March 30 the Senate adopted a slate of committee reports and passed multiple House and Senate bills on the consent calendar and in general orders, including House Bills 1257, 1095, 1089, 1277 and 1198 (second reading to third‑reading placement) and multiple third‑reading final passages noted on the floor.
The Senate used the consent calendar and Committee of the Whole procedures to advance and adopt a number of bills with limited floor debate on March 30. Committee reports for General Orders Second Reading of Bills were adopted and several bills were ordered to third reading or passed on final reading, including (but not limited to): House Bills 1257 (local massage regulation), 1095 (online access to public notices), 1089 (mortgage modification/Uniform Mortgage Modification Act), 1277 (kidney disease prevention task force continuation), and 1198 (increasing access to veterinary care). Several third‑reading final passages were also recorded on the floor during the session, including House Bills 1200 (payments on vehicle registration for certain military registrants), 1011 (pet-transfer rules), 1133 (environmental education program), and others listed by the clerk.
Some bills drew recorded roll‑call tallies (for example, House Bill 1144 passed 23‑12 on third reading); many others proceeded as part of routine floor business with committee reports adopted and bills advanced. The Senate laid over several bills to future calendar dates as indicated on the floor (e.g., Senate Bill 63 to April 6, 2026; House Bills 1120 and 1007 to April 1, 2026).
