Red Oak honors firefighters for life‑saving rescues and annual awards

The Red Oak City Council used part of its regular meeting to present annual awards and life‑saving citations to Red Oak Fire Rescue personnel and to receive departmental updates.
The council recognized peer-selected awards including Firefighter of the Year, EMS Provider of the Year, Driver Engineer of the Year, Fire Officer of the Year, and Pride and Commitment awards. Separately, the council presented life-saving awards for two multi-member responses: a January 30 water rescue involving an inflatable raft and tethered downstream lowering that safely recovered two victims, and a September 13 structure-fire response in which crews located and removed an unconscious resident who later was discharged from the hospital on October 16, 2025.
Fire officials praised the actions of the crews involved and listed the members being honored. The fire chief also reported that several Red Oak firefighters deployed to assist with out-of-area wildfires in February and provided construction updates on Station 3 and apparatus procurement.
