AISD outlines math interventions and previews 1882 partnership for three campuses

Superintendent Segura introduced assistant superintendents and directors who said the district’s measure for second-grade numeracy is on a positive trajectory: fewer students are being flagged for intervention on the NWEA MAP compared with prior baselines, and district teams identified targeted supports including MTSS fidelity reviews, accelerated learning time embedded in core instruction, teacher professional learning sessions, learning labs, and teacher-made hands-on materials to reduce teacher prep burdens.
“We’ve seen decreases in those students that were flagged for intervention,” Mary Ann Maxwell said, summarizing district data trends and the work to accelerate learning ahead of STAAR testing.

Board action: Following the presentation, Secretary Foster moved to accept the report; Vice President Gonzales seconded, and the trustees on the dais voted in favor. The chair announced the motion passed.
What’s next: Trustees requested campus-by-campus tables and additional clarity about student-population counts used in the analysis. Administration said it will provide follow-up materials and continue community engagement related to the partnership and improvement plans.
