Willard's Nov. 3 work session included discussion of adding a K-9 unit to the police department. The Chief of Police reported it would cost roughly $4,000 to outfit a cruiser for a K-9, and liability insurance for the unit would be about $109 per year. Staff said the Huron County Sheriff’s Office would train a dog and handler at no cost and that the cruiser outfitted for the K-9 could be used as a regular patrol car when the dog is not on duty.
