Agency begins validator and ticket‑vending pilot; secure platform plan continues

The first pilot ticket vending machines were installed at five stations for field testing (Civic Center, Cortex and Union Station in Missouri; Jackie Joiner Kersee and Washington Park in Illinois). Staff said these pilot TVMs are not yet open for public use and that testing will proceed in phases with internal teams, maintenance staff, ADA representatives and designated citizens.
Staff emphasized that completion of the broader fare collection project depends on receipt of remaining TVMs and completion of secure platform plan construction. In related work, the commission heard that some secure platform sites will receive site visits from the project team, and Captain Kelling described the 'Writing Right' campaign to reward positive rider behavior with a small number of complimentary fares.
No formal vote was taken on fare‑collection policy; staff said field pilots and secure platform construction will continue and that additional updates will be provided as pilots move to public deployment.
