Senator Russ Huxtable told the Senate Energy, Environment and Transportation Committee on May 5 that House Bill 308 would require the Delaware Public Service Commission to livestream its meetings and permit virtual public comment.
"This legislation simply codifies those best practices into law so that Delawareans can consistently observe meetings and participate virtually regardless of future administrative changes," Huxtable said, noting the bill does not change the PSC’s authority or the substance of its work.
Committee members asked no questions, and no public commenters signed up to speak on the bill. The sponsor noted that the PSC already livestreams meetings and that the bill’s purpose is to ensure continuity of public access if administrative practices change.
The committee did not record a vote during the meeting. Chair Senator Stephanie Hanson asked members to sign bill-backer sheets and then adjourned the session.
