The Vinton City Council approved two resolutions July 10: (1) a budgeted purchase of street lights from East Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative and (2) the quarterly hotel/motel tax disbursement to Bit Unlimited.
During new business, Councilmember Riley moved and Andrew seconded the motion to purchase street lights; the council confirmed the purchase was included in this year’s budget before recording a roll‑call vote in favor. Chair noted Craig had confirmed funding was available in the current year’s budget.
The council also considered the hotel/motel tax allocation and approved the quarterly disbursement to Bit Unlimited as part of routine quarterly allocations. The motion was seconded and carried on a roll‑call vote with no recorded opposition.
Both measures were routine budgetary actions. Council did not discuss terms, unit counts or delivery dates for the lighting purchase on the meeting record, nor did members request additional detail about the hotel/motel allocation during the session. Administrative staff will implement the disbursement and procurement steps according to standard city procedures.
These approvals were followed by other agenda items including intergovernmental 28E agreements and infrastructure actions later in the meeting.
