Justin Casperson presented Resolution 2026-07, asking the committee to recommend Common Council approval of a multi-year funding commitment to the Marshfield Fairgrounds Commission. Casperson said the resolution arose from a revised agreement worked on in 2025 with Alderman Dallas and the city attorney that outlines shared funding among the city, Wood County, the fairgrounds commission and the Central Wisconsin State Fair Association.
Casperson explained that many city-owned fairgrounds facilities need capital repair and that the proposed city contribution of $25,000 annually for five years would formalize a cost-sharing structure. "The commitment is contingent upon Wood County adopting a corresponding resolution to provide a matching annual contribution of $25,000," Casperson said, and payments would be made annually on or before May 1.
A motion to recommend approval was made and seconded; the committee voted in favor and the motion carried. The fairgrounds commission had previously approved the resolution at its January meeting, subject to city, county and state fair association approvals.
The transcript does not record a roll-call vote or named voter tallies. The committee’s recommendation will advance the resolution to the Common Council for final action and depends on Wood County enacting matching funding.
