Library director reports boost in programs, announces winter reading challenge

January Adams, director of the Franklin Township Public Library, told trustees on Nov. 19 that the library saw strong community engagement in recent weeks, highlighted by a Nov. 8 local author fair featuring more than a dozen authors.
Adams reported that adult services offered 56 programs with a total of 847 attendees during the reported month and that youth services ran 45 programs with 1,322 attendees. She said classroom visits have begun to pick up again, reporting 11 visits in the period discussed.
Staff from adult services, youth services and circulation have completed groundwork for the 2026 winter reading challenge, which Adams said will run from Dec. 22, 2025, through Feb. 23, 2026.
Adams also noted a staff member (identified in discussion as Ted) participated in the local-author fair and that social-media posts from the event showed strong turnout. The director did not raise any specific financial concerns with program operations during the report.
The trustees then moved on to new business, including capital-project planning and fund restrictions.
