DAVID CITY, Neb. — Butler County’s Board of Supervisors authorized the Jail Administrator to solicit formal sealed bids to replace the county jail’s control and intercom system, which was installed in 2004 and is described as being in "dire need of replacement." The motion passed unanimously at the May 4 meeting.
Jail Administrator Angie Siebken told the board there is $175,000 in a sinking fund designated for the project but said she did not know the project’s ultimate cost. The board authorized the solicitation of bids with responses to be opened June 1, 2026, at 9:15 a.m.
Supervisor Scot Bauer moved to authorize the bid solicitation; Supervisor Scott Griess seconded the motion. County officials said the sealed-bid process will determine firm project costs and next steps. The county conducted a quarterly jail inspection during the meeting and will report back to the board after bids are opened.
The authorization does not commit the board to a contract award; a formal award will follow review of bids and budget considerations.
