Neighbors packed the meeting and described recurring flooding, frequent crashes on Central Pike, wildlife losses and privacy impacts from a proposed access road they said would run feet from existing backyards. "This action will ruin all the reasons we chose this location," said resident Jim Schmidt, who submitted photos and a 188‑name petition opposing the development. Other residents said the county's wastewater "step" systems have failed elsewhere and warned new lots would worsen drainage and treatment capacity.
