Gilbert council reviews state-mandated zoning amendment to allow "international headquarters" campuses with housing and hotels

Nicole Russell, senior planner in Gilbert’s Development Services department, told the Town Council at a March 3 study session that staff has drafted a Land Development Code text amendment, Z2512, to implement recent state legislation allowing "international headquarters" campuses with ancillary residential and hotel uses.
Russell said HB1543 requires municipalities with populations between 200,000 and 500,000 to allow ancillary uses — including hotels and multifamily housing — as part of an international headquarters campus. "I am Nicole Russell, senior planner with development services, and today I will be talking to you about Z2512, the LDC text amendment for international headquarters," she said.
