Norton King's Daughters EMS outlines June groundbreaking for new station, asks council partnership

Representatives of Norton King's Daughters Hospital Foundation briefed the Jefferson County Council on progress for a new EMS facility at the county's April meeting. "I'm Rachel Sharbaugh with the Norton King's Daughters Hospital Foundation office and with me is Jane Williams, director of EMS," Rachel Sharbaugh told the council, saying the project is moving toward a June groundbreaking and that Bethany Legacy will help plan a community-focused ceremony.
Sharbaugh and Williams said the hospital team had previously toured the existing EMS building with county officials and followed up with county commissioners. Council members asked when commissioners would formally present a recommendation to the council; staff said a recommendation from the commissioners should return to Council after the next meeting.
Council members indicated general support but asked for more detail on timing and fundraising commitments. The presenters said they would be available to answer further questions and welcomed partnership with the County Council on outreach and the groundbreaking.
The council did not take formal action on the EMS item at the meeting but flagged the project for future discussion and possible support following Commissioner recommendations.
