Asbury Park council honors Reverend David Perott Jr. and Russell Lewis with proclamations

The Asbury Park City Council presented proclamations honoring two longtime community figures during the meeting.
Mayor John Moore and council members read a proclamation recognizing Reverend David J. Perott Jr. for his military service, 26 years with the Asbury Park Police Department (retiring as a detective), leadership during the 1970 unrest, civic roles on the city council, housing authority and zoning board, and his ministry with St. Stephen's AME Zion and Good Samaritan. A state legislative citation from the 11th Legislative District was also mentioned. Reverend Perott thanked the council and audience.
The council also presented a proclamation to Russell Lewis for 20 years of service on the Asbury Park Zoning Board of Adjustment, his role as vice chair, his contributions to local business (founder of Watermark in 2008), and support for arts and youth music programs. Lewis accepted the recognition and remarked on the honor of sharing the night with Reverend Perott.
Both proclamations were met with applause. The council took these recognitions as ceremonial items within the meeting agenda and did not attach formal policy changes or votes beyond the ceremonial presentation.
