La Crosse County staff informed CLTS providers that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services now oversees provider registration through the state provider registry. County staff said local oversight will continue — the county will still set vendors up locally after DHS approves registry changes — and reminded vendors that providers must re‑register every four years and that background checks remain required for caregivers and sole proprietors.
