Sumner County board debates one-time exception to retiree health-coverage rule

Board members raised two central concerns: equity and actuarial risk. Several said ad hoc exceptions could create a precedent that would be difficult to administer and could increase long-term costs. One member described the choice as an HR issue but echoed the legal caution about retroactive claims and discriminatory-administration risk.
