Commissioners press for more EMS posts and debate shared fire/EMS stations

Commissioners pressed staff for more EMS capacity and new stations after the CIP presentation. One commissioner urged adding another EMS post in the eastern part of the county (Derby area) to improve response times and reduce reliance on municipal partners, saying current arrangements often leave county residents waiting behind city first-responders.

“I think we need another EMS post out east,” a commissioner said, arguing Derby could either host a co-located ambulance or the county should build a permanent post.
