The Fulshear City Council approved a resolution to participate in the North Fort Bend Water Authority’s 2026 water conservation program and to form a water conservation committee to meet program requirements and secure rebates.
A council member explained the city is eligible for authority rebates if it completes conservation requirements. "Since we completed it for last year, we've gotten a $125,000 back already from them for this year," the council member said, citing the city’s prior rebate return. Council directed staff to appoint at least three council members and one resident to the committee; staff suggested aligning the committee membership with the city's existing strategic water‑wastewater planning subcommittee and recommended Kirsten Burns as a resident representative.
Council moved and seconded the measure and approved it by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff said duties would include periodic review of conservation activities and occasional meetings; the city will report back as required to the water authority to qualify for future rebates.
