Monona County adopts multiple drainage district levies, lists assessment amounts

Acting as Drainage Trustees on May 5, 2026, the Monona County Board of Supervisors adopted a series of resolutions levying assessments across numerous drainage districts and approved related drainage claims.
Drainage clerks Amy Borchardt‑Sick and Ashley Brown presented the item. The adopted levy resolution enumerated assessment amounts for a range of laterals and mains. Examples listed by the board include Crane Inter‑County $25,889; Gray Lateral C $53,035 (with a 10‑year waiver option); Oliver Lake Main $31,900; Oliver Lake Laterals 1‑3 from $400 to $4,415; and Onawa DD $41,349. The resolution directs the county auditor to spread these levies on the tax rolls to be collected under Iowa Code §468.55 in semiannual installments in the 2026‑2027 tax year, pursuant to §445.36.
The board approved the drainage claims and carried the levy resolutions by unanimous vote. The resolutions and claims are filed with the Drainage Office, per the trustees’ action.
Why it matters: Drainage levies finance maintenance and debt service for individual drainage districts; the amounts and collection method affect property owners within each district. The board recorded the specific dollar amounts and the statutory citation for collection.
