Committee hears update on Clearview project, tornado repairs and county facilities work

Members of the Dodge County Building Committee received a series of facilities updates at their April 2, 2026 meeting, including progress on the Clearview project, tornado repairs, and planned maintenance across county buildings.
John Nehls, Dodge County’s Director of Physical Facilities, told the committee that Clearview’s concrete patio project was planned to start the week of the meeting but was delayed because it was too wet; Allen Remodeling of Brookfield will complete the patio work. Staff reported the overall Clearview project is progressing and is expected to be completed by July 1, 2026, though a pipe-break repair remains unfinished. Nehls also said the original fire alarm vendor encountered problems during the first part of the project and “will not be returning for the second part of [the] project,” creating a vendor-replacement issue staff must resolve.
Committee members were informed that Clearview is finishing interior tornado damage repairs, and that exterior siding, soffit damage and pergolas around the building were being repaired. Staff also noted that Sure-Fire will replace coils for rooftop units at the Henry Dodge Office Building.
In broader facilities activity, staff said they are working with IT to replace two UPS units; ordered wiring for the Clearview card-reader security project (Clearview maintenance pulled the cable and IT will work with Accurate Controls on programming); completed pod cleaning and are installing LED lighting in county buildings; and recently replaced an ozone generator in the jail laundry. The minutes also record two major leaks at the Henry Dodge Office Building and that photos of those leaks were provided to the committee.
On operations, the county will host the Wisconsin Facilities Management Association (WFMA) spring conference April 29–30, 2026; staff are preparing for the Sheriff’s accreditation inspection the following week; and a large painting project at the community-based residential facility (CBRF) in the Henry Dodge Office Building is being considered. The minutes list other planned work, including HVAC repairs at the Administration Building and landscape and grass repairs for the Administration Building.
The committee set its next meeting for May 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. and adjourned at 4:31 p.m.
