Committee approves Clearview’s revised absenteeism policy (Policy 1032)

A Clearview representative presented updates to Policy 1032, which clarifies disciplinary steps for late reporting and standardizes how different departments implement attendance expectations. The policy language consolidates prior department-specific wording and shifts the title from "Attendance at Work" to "Absenteeism" to reflect a clearer approach to corrective action.

The presenter told the committee that much of the policy language previously existed and that about a year and a half of work went into the revisions. When asked whether absenteeism had increased, the presenter said the trend mirrors other entry-level industries and that while absenteeism is up compared with 10–15 years ago, it was not portrayed as unusually severe for comparable healthcare entry-level work.

Supervisor Steve Caufield moved to approve the policy; Supervisor Evan Meinel seconded the motion. The committee approved the policy by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

The presenter said Clearview typically could approve policies internally but sought committee approval for transparency given the policy’s operational impact across departments.
